U.S. fast-food chain Burger King will open its second location in Phnom Penh in Boeng Keng Kang I commune by the end of January, the restaurant’s manager said Thursday.
Located at the corner of streets 51 and 310, the restaurant will take over the building that once housed True Coffee.
“I think it will open in mid to late January, but it depends on construction,” said Nuon Kakada, manager of Burger King (BKK). Mr. Kakada said Boeng Keng Kang I commune was chosen because it is an area popular with foreigners and Khmers alike. “It’s a popular place people know,” he said.
Burger King’s first restaurant in Cambodia opened in February at the Phnom Penh international airport.
Mr. Kakada said the menu and its prices for Burger King (BKK) would be the same as those at Phnom Penh international airport. the partners of Burger King in Cambodia are local company HSC, which is owned by Sok Hong, the son of well-known businessman Sok Kong, and Vietnamese firm Imex Pan-Pacific Group Inc.
