Cambodia, Singapore Sign Energy Agreement

Minister of Industry, Mines and En­ergy Cham Prasidh signed an ag­reement with Singa­pore’s Min­is­try of Trade and Industry on Monday to ex­change information in the energy sector on conservation, electricity regulation and renewable sources, ac­cording to statement from the Sin­gaporean ministry. 

The memorandum of understanding—signed by former commerce minister Mr. Pra­sidh and S. Iswaran, Singa­pore’s second minister for Home Af­fairs and Trade & Industry—said that the two countries agreed to focus on areas “such as energy efficiency and conservation, regulation of electricity, re­newable energy and liquefied natural gas.”

“The first project under the Sin­gapore-Cambodia MoU will involve the training of 60 Cambodian energy of­ficials in electrical safety systems, frameworks and regulations,” the min­istry said in the statement, adding that standards on electrical wiring and building safety for Cambodia will also be developed.
