A woman was beaten to death by her brother in Kompong Speu province’s Samraong Tong district on Tuesday after a minor verbal dispute escalated into a violent fight, police said.
Chieb Sokhum, who was 36 and lived with her older brother in Taing Krouch commune after divorcing her husband, was bludgeoned with a wooden stick by Chieb Chhoeun, 40, said deputy district police chief Mech Sophan.
“The victim took a plastic water bowl to beat his head, making him angry, so he took a wooden stick to hit her head until she died,” Mr. Sophan said.
“It was intentional violence.” The deputy chief said he did not know the topic of the argument that sparked the fight but said Mr. Chhoeun was arrested and taken to the provincial police station after bludgeoning his sister.
He added that the mother of the siblings also lived with them in Taing Krouch commune and that the victim was survived by a 16-year-old son.
