The Philippines and Cambodia have agreed to boost defense cooperation and bilateral relations to address security problems in the region, the Department of National Defense (DND) said on Tuesday.
DND spokesman Arsenio Andolong disclosed that Manila and Phnom Penh held their Inaugural Joint Defense Cooperation Committee (JDCC) earlier this month in Cambodia, attended by Defense Undersecretary Ricardo David and General Neang Phat, secretary of state of the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense.
Andolong noted that the conference in Phnom Penh was an “offshoot” of the two nations’ 2017 Memorandum of Understanding on defense cooperation.
